Best Brick Sealer

Everyone wants a wet look, satin sheen or high gloss coating for brick but fact of the matter is, anything you apply to brick will peel off, turn white, or go hazy unless you use a penetrating sealer.

Brick is very porous which poses 2 problems:

  1. It will allow moisture to penetrate up through the brick from the interior out, the exterior in, and the ground up. Moisture will cause coatings to delaminate, bubble, develop hazy areas or white spots. Acrylics, urethanes, and even epoxies are not designed to be applied to brick because they can’t survive the application surface.
  2. Brick is very porous and for that reason, will soak up a lot of material. High gloss coatings will turn to a low gloss matte finish once dry.

The best type of sealer to use on brick is a silane siloxane blend water repellent, like the Armor SX5000. These types of sealers will work below the surface to stop the absorption of water and other liquids on the surface. They protect the brick from damage caused by water, snow and ice, mold and mildew, and damage caused by changes in weather.
