There are two types of products that can be used to seal a concrete pool deck:
- Invisible, penetrating sealer: Works below the surface and won’t change the appearance of the concrete.
- Coating. Changes the appearance by adding a satin sheen or gloss finish.
Pool Deck Sealers
The best type of sealer to use on concrete is a water repellent silane siloxane blend sealer. When consider a product, look for high solids formulas (20-40%) solvent based. Water based products tend to have lower solids and don’t last as long as a solvent based would.
Pool Deck Coatings
The best type of coating to use on exterior concrete is an acrylic coating. Acrylic coatings are breathable and designed to perform well in exterior applications. Epoxies are moisture and UV sensitive and tend to peel when moisture becomes present.
