Garage floors are exposed to water, vehicle oils and gasoline and for that reason require a coating that won’t break down when exposed.
Epoxies, Polyapsartics and Aliphatic coats are the most popular types of industrial coatings on the market. There are a few key differences however between the three types of coatings:
- Epoxies are used in a lot of industrial applications but are not used in a lot of commercial. While they offer durability they are not as resistant to oil or gasoline as a Polyaspartic or aliphatic.
- Polyaspartics are more popular than epoxies because of their strength and resistance, and because they are used a lot in Chip Floor Systems. Polyaspartics are resistant to oil but gasoline may cause hazy spots if left on for long periods of time.
- Aliphatics are the most popular type of coating in an industrial setting because they are resistant to most everything – oil, gasonline, acids and chemicals. They offer superior durability over other coatings and have a long lifespan.
